The biggest disappointment though, was that there were NO ANIMALS on the hike. ![]() But that's a tiny complaint, and perhaps a complaint only a solo traveler like me would have-I've give the Country Inn 4.5 stars if I could. Our guide Brooke was very sweet and engaging and answered questions that we asked, but I was disappointed that this was just a hike with no real tour or explanation offered about what we were seeing along the hike, so we only learned what we asked about along the way, and only a couple of us in the front would have heard any of that. I couldn't help but think, "Shouldn't your first priority be the guests who are shelling out hundreds of dollars to stay at your hotel, not the local restaurants?" If anyone from the Country Inn reads this, I gently suggest that the next time a guest asks if you have a microwave, you just say "no" and leave it at that. The clerk said they didn't because the local restaurants didn't like the hotels having microwaves, because more nuking of leftovers means less people going out to eat. My room didn't have a microwave (which was fine, I didn't see it listed in the description when I booked), so I asked the front desk if they had one in the lobby or somewhere in back. Only one thing stopped this from being a five-star review. There's even a few good restaurants near the beach. If you're into a little hiking mixed in with relaxing on the beach, this is a great place to stay. You could take an easy, scenic hike atop the bluffs, or stroll on the beach-either way, you'll see a killer sunset. And in the other direction, of course, is the more popular beach and Point Dume. Awesome scenery, challenging or easy trails, and not too crowded-really a hidden gem. Follow that down for a minute and you'll come to the traihead for some great hiking in and around Zuma Canyon. What makes the hotel great is its location-right off the Pacfic Coast Highway, between Zuma Canyon and Zuma Beach. Wifi worked well, and noise wasn't an issue. The room was very nice-wood floor, comfortable bed, ample space. Also, they do not have a clock in the renovated rooms. ![]() Loved it & will definitely go back! *Just a small tip to travelers staying here…bring conditioner as they only put conditioning shampoo in the rooms & I know some people are picky about this. ![]() I’d recommend this hotel to anyone having a small wedding in Malibu in need of rooms for family or a couple looking for a romantic getaway. Thank you to Ivy for being so accommodating from the beginning of our planning to the very end of our stay. So impressed with staff and ambiance inside restaurant. At least one newly renovated room has a Jacuzzi on the private patio, very neat! Excellent onsite restaurant, Kristy’s. The Ocean View Room #26, is a great size, much larger than the renovated rooms and has a huge balcony, excellent for having your guests congregate and hang out, and the most unobstructed view of ocean in distance. Perfect location, beautiful views & friendly, helpful staff. We just stayed here for our wedding weekend and absolutely loved it.
